Soul Signature Tattoo Rocks!

I love tattoos, they're like an addiction (between all the obsessions and addictions I've listed today, some may think I need PhD kind of help). Don't ask me how many tattoos I have because it's alot and I stopped counting many tattoos ago. For my birthday, my cute Mexican wanted to get me a present I would love forever which of course translated into a new tattoo. Forget the jewelry honey, gimme a new tat any day.

Last year I had a tattoo done by Jesico Serrano of Soul Signature Tattoo and Art Studio. I absolutely loved it. He did everything I asked for even though I don't know how he did because the description that I gave him was totally convoluted. He did pull through in the end and I'll keep going to him as long as he's still in Hawaii. The tattoo shop is filled with extremely talented artists (yes I said artists because that's what they are) that express their art on skin as well as canvas.

The one thing I really love about the shop is that it is the best place to meet some of the coolest people I've encountered in my life. My sister also wanted to get a tattoo at the same time as me and so her appointment was actually scheduled a day before mine. I went there to show her some moral support and I'm totally addicted to the smell of tattoo parlors (or maybe it's the smell of fear...haha). While I was there for my appointment, I was able to watch a guy (nickname - Pele Pubes) get a traditional style tapping tattoo by Aisea. It looked mucho sore but he took it like a champ. He had actually logged 56 hours of tattooing previously as his tattoo looked like a Samoan Pe'a which runs from mid-back down to his knees - tattooing in the front and back. Yes...ouch. My sister's tattoo was wicked awesome with much less pain. Oh yeah, and got to meet some other cool people but I'll only give you their code names - Kava Mike was a funny dude and Just Oof was pretty cool.

My turn came up Saturday afternoon and I was more than ready. Jesico is working on a cover-up of an old tattoo for me. And no, I was not getting someone's name covered up, I just grew out of an old tattoo and felt like something new. I got only the outline done that day, based on my tattoo guy's recommendations, I should let that heal and then do the shading. He's the man, so in that one instance, I'll do what I'm told, but only in that one instance. I'm scheduled for another session in 2 weeks...and I can't wait to see how it turns out. So far, it's looking pretty good...pics to come when the tattoo is done. Highlight of the day besides the tattoo - Filipino Tribe Al - that was one funny ass dude!

All in all, I've always enjoyed the vibe of Soul Signature. It's a cool place for cool people (of which I totally feel I qualify). You can sit in the front and shoot the shit with whatever random array of people come into the shop. If you're an uptight asshole, this is not the place for you, but your run-of-the-mill sarcastic bastard will feel totally at home.

Soul Signature Tattoo - A++ in my book. Since I've only gone to Jesico, I can only really rate him and I have to give him high marks for both service and product. I did peek through everyone else's portfolios and they all have mad skills. To hook you up, here's the link for their website...check it out!
